The Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation was established in 1992. It is responsible for setting donation and transplantation standards, overseeing legislation, and monitoring performance, in accordance with Royal Order M/70 (2021) and the implementing regulations approved by Ministerial Resolution 29425-4 (2021).
The accreditation program is part of the center's strategic plan, based on Articles 14 and 15 of the Human Organ Donation Law and its implementing regulations, to improve the quality of organ transplantation services through a simple and effective accreditation system that enhances the standard of healthcare in the Kingdom.
Accreditation is an essential element in ensuring the quality, safety, and efficiency of organ donation and transplantation services, providing a clear regulatory framework that ensures adherence to clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards. Standardizing procedures helps reduce disparities, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the quality of medical services in this sensitive field.
The Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation offers a rigorous accreditation process that aims to evaluate and grant official accreditation to medical centers and hospitals that adhere to specific standards in the field of organ and tissue transplantation.
