Know Your Rights: Organ Failure Patient

Rights of End-Stage Organ Failure Patients:

  • Royal approval of the Civil Service Council’s proposal to grant employees with kidney failure full-paid leave on the days they undergo hemodialysis, based on a report from the treating medical authority.
  • Royal approval of the recommendations by the Ministry of Health committee to grant the families of deceased organ donors for organ failure patients a reward of SAR 50,000, as per the Council of Ministers’ decision.
  • Approval from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development to provide an annual financial aid of SAR 10,000 to kidney failure patients.
  • Approval from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development of the proposal submitted by the Prince Fahd bin Salman Charity Association for the Care of Kidney Failure Patients, to include kidney failure patients under the Special Needs Care System in Saudi Arabia, entitling them to allowances, discount cards, and all services provided by the Ministry to people with disabilities.
  • Approval from Saudi Airlines to grant kidney failure patients an allowance of 240 kilograms free of charge (for medicines and solutions) on both domestic and international flights originating from the Kingdom.
  • Approval by His Royal Highness the Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation, and Inspector General that military personnel with kidney failure are deemed medically unfit for military service and are treated under the Military Retirement System, receiving 70% of their last salary prior to retirement. This is conditional upon the Supreme Military Medical Committee not recommending continuation of service for those in advanced stages of kidney failure and after the patient has exhausted 90 days of dialysis leave. Kidney donors, however, continue their military service and are considered fit for duty; in case of deterioration of their health, they are retired and also receive 70% of their last salary.

  • Donor’s medical report (original).
  • Recipient’s medical report (original).
  • Post-transplant form (original).
  • Copy of donor’s ID.
  • Copy of recipient’s ID.
  • Copy of the donation approval letter.
  • Personal photo of donor and recipient.
  • Copy of donor’s bank account (IBAN certificate matching the donor’s national ID).
  • Copy of donor’s national address.
  • Two mobile numbers (for the donor).
  • Two mobile numbers (for the recipient).
