Organs donated by a brain-dead Saudi woman have helped save the lives of three patients, bringing an end to their suffering from end-stage organ failure.
The Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation successfully obtained the consent of the donor’s family last week, enabling life-saving transplants for patients in critical need. The procedures included a heart transplant for a 20-year-old patient, as well as two kidney transplants.
One kidney was transplanted to a 23-year-old patient, ending seven years of suffering from kidney failure and dialysis. The second kidney was transplanted to a 40-year-old patient who had endured six years of dialysis treatment.
This generous act of donation brought renewed hope and improved quality of life to three families, reflecting the spirit of compassion and solidarity within the community. The organ procurement and transplantation procedures were carried out under the supervision of the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation, in coordination with Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital – Al Suwaidi.
Dr. Talal Al-Qoufi, Director General of the Center, stated that organ allocation was conducted in accordance with established medical ethics and policies, ensuring fairness based on patients’ medical priorities. He noted that this achievement reflects the strong collaboration among all involved entities.
In closing, Dr. Al-Qoufi expressed his sincere gratitude to the donor’s family for their noble decision, praying for mercy upon the deceased and for great reward to her family for their generosity.
