The Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation successfully obtained consent from the families of twelve brain-dead donors over the past month, enabling life-saving transplants for patients suffering from end-stage organ failure.

These donations resulted in:

  • 2 heart transplants, saving two patients
  • 9 liver transplants, saving nine patients
  • 12 kidney transplants, ending the suffering of twelve patients with kidney failure
  • 1 pancreas transplant, restoring hope for another patient

Through the generosity of these twelve families, hope and improved quality of life were restored to 24 patients and their families, reflecting the strong spirit of compassion and solidarity within the community.

The procedures were carried out under the supervision of the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation, in coordination with several healthcare institutions, including King Saud Medical City, Al Iman General Hospital, Obeid Specialized Hospital, King Abdulaziz Medical City – National Guard, Andalusia Hospital, Makkah Medical Complex, Rafha General Hospital, as well as Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.

Dr. Talal Al-Qoufi, Director General of the Center, stated that organ allocation was conducted in accordance with established medical ethics and policies, ensuring fairness based on patients’ medical priorities. He emphasized that this achievement reflects the strong collaboration among all involved entities, and commended the efforts of the Air Medical Evacuation teams in transporting organs from donors in the United Arab Emirates to Riyadh.

In closing, Dr. Al-Qoufi expressed his sincere gratitude to the families of the donors for their noble decision, praying that they are rewarded for their generosity in this life and the hereafter.
